Watermark PDF

Stamp text or a logo across your pages — position it exactly where you want.

Processed on your device — your files are never uploaded

Securely watermark your PDF files online

Stamp DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL across a report, add your company logo to invoices and proposals, or mark a passport or ID copy “for KYC only” before you send it. Add a text or image watermark, make it transparent, place it above or behind the page content, and apply it to every page or just the ones you choose. Velprio’s watermark tool runs directly inside your web browser, so the whole job happens on your own device.

How to add a watermark to a PDF online

  1. Drop your PDF onto the box above, or choose a file.
  2. Type your watermark text, or switch to the Image tab and pick a logo.
  3. Drag it into place on the preview, then set the rotation and opacity to taste.
  4. Choose whether it applies to all pages or only some.
  5. Select Add watermark, then download the finished PDF.

Why use Velprio’s online PDF watermark tool?

Private by design

Velprio adds the watermark inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so confidential contracts, invoices and ID documents never leave the device you are working on.

Custom text and image logos

Stamp custom text with control over font, size, colour, weight and style — or drop in a transparent PNG logo or corporate stamp. JPG works too, though a transparent PNG gives the cleanest result.

Exact positioning on a live preview

Drag the watermark anywhere on a real preview of your page, scale it from the corner handles, and rotate it freely. A nine-point grid snaps it to a corner or the centre in one click, and the preview is measured with the same font metrics the finished PDF uses, so what you see is where it lands.

Above or behind your content

Place the watermark over the page, or tuck it behind the existing text so the document stays easy to read. Opacity is adjustable either way, starting at a readable 30%.

Choose which pages

Apply the watermark to the whole document, to the first page only, or to a range you type in — for example pages 2 to 5.

No bloat added to your file

The three available fonts are built into every PDF reader, so no font file is embedded and a text watermark leaves your document about the size it was. A custom typeface, by contrast, can add hundreds of kilobytes. A logo is stored once, however many pages it appears on.

Frequently asked questions about PDF watermarking

Is it safe to watermark a PDF online?

With Velprio, your file is never sent anywhere. Many online tools upload your document to their servers, so you have to trust how it is stored and when it is deleted. Velprio adds the watermark inside your browser on your own device, so there is no copy on a server to be kept, leaked or accessed — a sensible choice for contracts, invoices and ID documents.

How do I watermark a copy of my passport or ID card?

Open the PDF of your ID, type a line such as "Copy for KYC only" or "For [purpose] — [date]", and place it across the photo or the details. A semi-transparent watermark over the important part makes the copy hard to reuse for anything else, while the document stays readable. The file never leaves your device while you do it.

How do I make a PDF watermark transparent?

Use the opacity slider in the control panel, which runs from 0% to 100%. Somewhere between 30% and 40% usually works best — visible enough to be unmistakable, light enough to read the document through it. The tool starts at 30% for that reason.

Can you add a watermark behind text in a PDF?

Yes. The layer control switches between placing the watermark above the page's content or behind it. Behind-content rebuilds the document to get underneath the existing page, which means any existing links or form fields in the original won't carry over.

What file formats are supported for image watermarks?

PNG and JPG. A PNG with a transparent background gives the cleanest result, because the area around your logo lets the page show through instead of sitting on a solid rectangle.

Will adding a watermark make my PDF much bigger?

A text watermark adds almost nothing: it uses fonts that are built into every PDF reader, so no font file is embedded. A logo is stored in the PDF once and reused on every page, so the file grows by roughly the size of the image, however many pages it appears on. A small, compressed PNG keeps the increase low.

Can I watermark only certain pages?

Yes. You can apply the watermark to every page, to the first page only, or to a custom range typed as page numbers and spans — for example "1-3, 5". One document is watermarked at a time.

Is there a file size limit?

Files up to 50 MB are accepted. Because the whole job runs in your browser rather than on a server, that ceiling is about what your device can comfortably hold in memory, not a usage restriction.

Does adding a watermark change the text in my PDF?

No. The watermark is drawn as an additional layer on the page. The original text stays selectable and searchable exactly as it was, and with the watermark placed above the content, links, bookmarks and form fields are kept too.

Can I watermark a password-protected PDF?

It depends on the kind of protection. PDFs that only restrict printing or copying usually open normally. A PDF that asks for a password before it will open cannot be read here — remove the password first in the app that created it, then try again.

Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?

Yes. The tool runs in any modern browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari — so it works on Windows, macOS, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android, with nothing to install.
