Does compressing a PNG keep the transparent background?
Yes. Transparent and see-through areas stay transparent, including the soft edges around logos and icons.
How does PNG compression work?
If your PNG already fits the size you chose, it is saved with every colour kept. Otherwise the number of colours is reduced (to 256 or fewer), which shrinks the file a lot while looking almost the same for logos, icons and screenshots. Only if that is still not enough is the image made smaller.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Compression runs in your browser on your own device, so your images are never sent to a server.
Should I use PNG for photos?
Usually not. Photos become much smaller and sharper as JPG or WebP. If you add a photo-like PNG, Velprio keeps at least 256 colours and suggests switching format.
Can I compress a PNG to a specific size, like 100 KB?
Yes. Choose a target size or type any number of KB, and the PNG is made as small as needed to fit at or under it. If it already fits, it is saved with every colour kept.
How do I compress a transparent signature or logo PNG?
