About Velprio
Velprio is a set of free PDF and image tools that run entirely inside your web browser. There is no upload, no account and no server that ever receives your files.
The problem we started with
Almost everyone has needed to merge two PDFs or pull three pages out of a long report. Almost everyone has then searched for a free tool, found one, and hesitated for a moment before uploading the file — because the document in question was a bank statement, a signed contract, a passport scan or a medical letter.
That hesitation is reasonable. Uploading a private document to a free website means trusting a stranger’s servers, their retention policy, their staff and their security practice — usually all at once, usually without reading anything, and usually for a task that takes four seconds.
The frustrating part is that for most PDF work the upload is not necessary at all. Modern browsers are perfectly capable of doing the job on the device you are already holding.
How Velprio is different
Every Velprio tool does its work on your own computer or phone. Your file is opened by your browser, processed by code running on your device, and saved straight back to you. It never travels anywhere.
This is not a policy we are asking you to take on faith. It is an architectural fact you can check in under a minute: load any tool, disconnect from the internet, and it keeps working. A tool that uploaded your file could not do that.
Our Security page explains the mechanism in full, shows two ways to verify it yourself, and is equally plain about where our protection ends.
Processing locally has a second benefit that surprises people: speed. There is no queue, no upload progress bar and no download wait. A merge that a server-based tool turns into a thirty-second round trip finishes here more or less as fast as your device can read the file.
What we make
A small set of tools, each built for one job and free to use without an account:
- Merge PDF
Combine files, choosing which pages from each.
- Split PDF
Break one document into separate files.
- Extract Pages
Pull out the pages you need into a new PDF.
- Organize PDF
Reorder, rotate and remove pages.
- Watermark PDF
Place text or an image across your pages.
- Flatten PDF
Merge form fields and annotations into the page.
- PDF to Image
Turn pages into JPG or PNG files.
- Image to PDF
Build a PDF from JPG, PNG or HEIC photos.
- Compress Image
Shrink or resize a photo to an exact size, such as 50 KB.
- Compress PNG
Make PNG files smaller and keep transparent backgrounds.
We would rather have a handful of tools that work properly than thirty that mostly do. Each one gets previews, sensible defaults and error messages that say what actually went wrong — the parts usually missing from free tools.
How Velprio is paid for
It is a fair question to ask of anything free, and the answer shapes how much you should trust it. So, plainly: right now Velprio earns nothing. It carries no advertising, has no paid tier, and costs us money to run.
That is not a sustainable arrangement forever. When enough people are using the tools, we expect to introduce advertising to cover the costs, and we would rather tell you that now than spring it on you later. If and when it happens, our Privacy Policy will name the network and describe what it collects before the first advert appears. The tools themselves will stay free, and will not be made deliberately worse to push you towards a paid option.
What we will not do is sell data about you, because the architecture means we have none to sell. We cannot build a profile from documents we never receive.
What we won’t do
Free online tools have a familiar set of tricks. These are the ones we have decided against, written down here so you can hold us to them:
- Require an account, an email address or a sign-in to use a tool.
- Hold your finished file behind a wait, a survey or a newsletter box.
- Limit how many files you can process per day to push an upgrade.
- Add our name or a watermark to a document you made.
- Send your files to a server for processing, under any circumstance.
Who builds Velprio
Velprio is a small, independent project rather than a venture-backed company. That is worth saying plainly, because it explains both what you can expect and what you cannot: careful work on a focused set of tools, and no call centre.
The PDF tools are built on two open-source libraries that do the heavy lifting — Mozilla’s pdf.js, the engine inside Firefox, and pdf-lib. We are grateful for both, and the quality of this site owes a great deal to the people who maintain them.
If something is broken, if a file will not open, or if you want a tool we have not built, we would like to hear about it. Reports from people using real documents are how these tools get better.
